Hi, I'm Shelley and I am passionate about your life events.
I'm a married woman (she/her) who wants nothing better than to make your dreams come true.
I love to work with people and offer bespoke solutions to the bare bones of an idea until it becomes an event that is memorable and meaningful.
As a creative writer and storyteller I use my skills to tell your stories and inject a little bit of my enthusiasm to make any occasion a "Shelleybration" - see what I did there?!
I believe that your beliefs and rituals should be involved in your life events and the content that we share in a ceremony is fully about you and not me. So whether you are Sith or Jedi, Catholic or Agnostic, multi faith or no faith, traditional or alternative, hedgehog or Smurf, Harry Potter or Game of Thrones, come one and come all, the more the merrier!!
As a leadership professional for twenty five years in retail and healthcare, I was responsible for meticulous planning, organising and working with teams of all skill sets to deliver fantastic results, and I was pretty good at it!
As an HR Manager, I developed skills that meant I could work with people to bring out the best in them, to help them turn their ideas and desires into reality and of course, as a recruiter and training manager developed the skills to be able to talk to groups of people in a variety of settings. But, I was bored, I was stifled and felt I couldn't be creative to the extent that I wanted to be.
When I got married in 2014, I didn't know that Celebrants existed and looking back now, despite having a perfectly lovely day, there are some things I would change.
YOUR DAY, YOUR WAY.
No matter what the event, it is my job to make it everything you want and more.
I believe that we only get one go at life events and so they need to be right. Your wedding needs to be able to sum up who you are as a couple and involve your guests as your witnesses and supporters as you move into the next phase of your relationship.
If you are renewing your vows, the commitments you make to each other now are as important and heartfelt as they were the first time and so I will take this importance and passion and create a ceremony that befits the milestone you have reached in your relationship.
I can create a Naming Ceremony that welcomes your child into the family, celebrates their birth and all the hopes and dreams you hold for them, as well as involving friends and family members as guide parents or mentors to take the traditional role of Godparents. However, if you still want them to be Godparents that is fine by me.
Celebrations of Life are our one opportunity to tell someone's story in full, to recognise all they have achieved in life and mean to us. We will choose words and music that reflect our loved ones words, deeds and character so that we can send them on their final journey in style.
Naming ceremonies are a fantastic way to celebrate a new
birth into a family, the adoption of a child or the joining of two families together after their parents become married.
Traditional religious ceremonies may not reflect your beliefs, values or spirituality and you long for a truly bespoke ceremony involving friends and family that represents love, support and commitment to your child.
The life of a loved one is unique and I believe that the commemoration of their death should be too.
A funeral is a time to express grief in a last goodbye that honours a life led, an opportunity to recognise the true character, values and beliefs of the person who has died and a time for support, comfort and reflection as friends and family start to come to terms with their loss.
